Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) is an evidence-based group therapy for preventing depressive relapse and treating mood disorders. It reduces depression, anxiety and stress. Mindfulness is a non-judgmental way of paying attention to the present moment. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is designed to bring awareness to the habitual negative thinking that leads to depressive and anxious spirals. Combined, MBCT interrupts how we habitually react to situations, so we can choose to respond in more skillful ways. Research has demonstrated that MBCT is as effective as antidepressants in the prevention of depressive relapse or recurrence. (Kuyken, 2008)

The MBCT 8 week group program is held at a central location in Kitchener. You are invited to bring a yoga mat, blanket and water bottle as well as a pillow and/or bolster for additional comfort if you wish. The group size is limited to 15 participants. A commitment to practicing the MBCT skills is a central part of this program and contributes to its effectiveness. A telephone conversation with Michele can answer any questions you have and assist you in determining if this program is right for you. I welcome your inquiries.
As part of this program, you are invited to attend 1/2 day Silent Retreat. Retreat timing will be discussed with the group at the first session but is planned for one of the following dates: March 20 (Fri), March 29 (Sun), April 5 (Sun), March 28 (Sat), or April 5 (Sun).

- 8 Week MBCT Group Program – $450-$550 (sliding scale)
A $50 non-refundable deposit holds your spot for this 8 week group program. Full payment is due one week before the program begins. No refunds will be issued after the first day of the program. Deposits and/or payments can be made through e-transfer to email@example.com. If paying by credit card, please follow the On-Call Health link used for on-line counselling to be set up for credit purchases. The course text is The Mindful Way Workbook by John Teasdale, Mark Williams & Zindel Segal and is widely available for purchase either on-line or through your local bookstore.
